Hold on tight and get ready for a ton of fun and exciting things coming to the Disneyland Resort in 2023! With the Disney Company celebrating 100 years of magic, thrilling new shows, a new, reimagined land, there is SO much to look forward to in the new year. So, let’s dive in and explore all 2023 has in store for us!
Disney 100 Celebration
The Walt Disney Company is celebrating a century of magic and the fun and festivities begin on January 27, 2023. Disney parks around the world will celebrate this milestone, but the original Magic Kingdom, Disneyland, will be the epicenter for this year long celebration.
Starting January 27th, you can see special themed decor around the park, indulge in themed foods, and catch Mickey and Minnie in their new celebration outfits!
In celebration of the 100 years of the Walt Disney Company, we will get to experience two brand new nighttime spectaculars. “World of Color - One” is a brand new show coming to Disney California Adventure Park, which celebrates Walt’s storytelling legacy with lots of your favorite characters brought to life in new ways. In Disneyland, “Wondrous Journeys” will be the new fireworks show featuring a nod to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film to date!
Toon Town
Also happening on January 27th will be the opening of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This will open prior to the official opening of the brand new, reimagined Toon Town, which officially opens on March 8, 2023.
Magic Happens
Also making a return in the new year is Magic Happens, the parade that debuted in February 2020, just a few weeks before the park shut down due to the pandemic. Since it was so short lived, I know MANY people who are absolutely thrilled that this is making its return to the parks, and I’m one of them! Magic Happens is an incredible parade with such a fun vibe and beautiful music. Get ready to catch it when it returns on February 24th.
After Dark Events
After Dark events have begun to be announced! In 2023, we have the return of Sweetheart’s Nite and a brand new Princess Nite! It’s important to note that if you’re not attending one of these events, Disneyland will close early (usually around 6pm). So make sure you have a park hopper ticket so you can hop on over to California Adventure Park and get your full money’s worth.
- Sweetheart’s Nite takes place on January 31, February 2, 5, 7, 9, 14, and 16. There’s lots of character couples to meet, fun photo ops, and tons of yummy themed foods!
- Princess Nite is brand new and will take place on March 7 and 9. This night will be all about our favorite leading ladies and their tales of bravery, beauty, and grace.

That’s what we can look forward to in 2023 as of right now, but there’s plenty more fun and exciting things yet to be announced! So get ready to ring in the new year and welcome in a brand new year of adventure with the Walt Disney Company!
