Top 5 Reasons to Take a Disney Cruise

Top 5 Reasons to Take a Disney Cruise

Gabby Trump | @disneyparisplease

When thinking of Disney, most people immediately think of the theme parks, however Disney Cruise Line is a unique vacation that most people assume would be completely out of their budget. In fact- depending on the itinerary, number of nights and time of year, a Disney Cruise can be affordable for lots of different budgets! Disney cruises are my favorite way to "do Disney" - let me show you why!

1. What's Included

One of the biggest draws to sailing with Disney is that once you step foot on-board, you don't have to worry about a thing! Going to the parks requires months of advanced planning, but with Disney Cruise Line you will have a daily itinerary available with a variety of options to choose from - or you can hang at one of the many pools all day! All your meals, with the exception of any specialty dining, are included, so you and your whole family can splurge guilt-free knowing it's already taken care of!
Highlighting a few other features that you get to enjoy while onboard - at no additional cost!
  • Your stateroom along with all applicable taxes and port fees
  • All Breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • 24/7 room service
  • Soft drinks served at meals and at each ship’s beverage station
  • Snacks and ice cream throughout the ship
  • Disney Character Meet & Greets
  • Live Broadway-style productions at the Walt Disney Theatre
  • Disney movie classics and current first-run films
  • Gym access

 2. Family friendly

Disney cruises are NOT just for families with young children! In fact, my husband and I sailed with Disney on our honeymoon! And we have sailed multiple times since then as adults without children.

Whether you are a family with children, just two adults, or traveling with a group of friends, Disney cruises have tailored experiences for everyone!

There are designated kids clubs are available for kids as young as 6 months (It's a Small Word Nursery) to 17 years old, and all ages in-between!

Adult-only areas allow privacy and more relaxed pool/sun time, and every ship has its own kids' pools and splash areas, family/adult-only lounges, and age-appropriate activities.

3. Castaway Cay

One of the most special destinations on select itineraries is Disney's private island, Castaway Cay. What makes it so special? Aside from being the only cruise line that makes a stop there, this Bahamian island has clear blue waters, white sandy beaches, areas for kids and even a private beach for 18+. Disney characters welcome you onto the island, a variety of activities are available (bike riding, stingray experience, snorkeling, free Castaway Cay 5k run), as well as a great hot BBQ lunch buffet!

You can explore the island, spend all day at the beach, or do a combination of each, but Castaway Cay is a must-see spot!

4. Disney Magic

If you're worried that a cruise won't offer the same magical moments as the interactions you're used to in the parks, fear no more!

Disney characters are always present on the ship - in the atrium, pool deck, kids clubs, the island - and they are constantly rotating and even changing outfits to match the theme that day! The schedule of the day will have exact times of when characters will be out, and where - and lines are generally only a few minutes - if that!

Disney movies are playing 24/7 on the Tunnel Vision (Disney's massive tv screen) so families can swim and enjoy a movie at the same time.

Disney also offers specialty cruises such as 'Pixar Day at Sea,' 'Star Wars Day at Sea,' and 'Marvel Day at Sea" where a full day of the trip is dedicated to the theme.

Lastly, holidays are even more magical on DCL with specialty Halloween and Christmas themed cruises.

5. Special Itineraries

Disney Cruise Line takes the stress away from planning your destination - including choosing the specific ports - which can make or break your trip! Disney cruises to places like Alaska, Bahamas, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand, Mexico, and MORE!!

If it's always been a dream of yours to go to Australia, but you are completely overwhelmed as to exactly where you want to go or how to even begin the research, let Disney do it for you!

My husband and I did a 7-night British Isles cruise out of the UK, and we were able to experience several different ports of call without stressing about how to get there and what to see. Disney also allows their guests to book specific excursions to make the time spent at each port even more memorable!

Disney Cruise Line is my favorite way to experience Disney - but don't take my word for it! Itineraries are available through spring of 2024 - so you can book and start putting money toward that vacation NOW! Are you "sold" but don't know your next step? Shoot me an email at gabby@vacationeer.com

As a thank you for booking I gift onboard cruise credits (essentially free money to use on your cruise!) more info here

Bon voyage!
