Another Halloween season has cast its spell across the Disneyland Resort, and with it are limited time treats to sink your teeth into. There’s lots of sugary goodness to be had, but here’s a handful of limited time offerings around the resort that are worth planning for.
- Mickey Mummy Macaron - $6.99, Jolly Holiday Bakery & Cafe, Disneyland
There’s no growing up at Disneyland, so be sure to indulge in a little childhood fantasy like sweet treats for breakfast at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe. There’s sure to be something for everyone, but be aware, the treats here go fast and this cookies and creme filled macaron doesn’t last long in the case. The adorably detailed mummified Mickey macaron is so perfect, we wish they offered the flavor year-round.
- Classic Pumpkin Pie - $6.99, Plaza Inn, Disneyland
Pumpkins and their flavor take over this time of year, but not all are created equal and certainly not every treat with pumpkin flavor is worth mentioning, (I’m looking at you Pumpkin cold brew), but this one is on point and worth waiting for the 12 noon lunch dining to snag one! Whether your dropping “inn” for the famous fried chicken or not, this location is an easy walk up and you can grab the perfectly prepared mini pumpkin pie and enjoy it out of the hustle and bustle of the crowds inside or out in the iconic victorian style 1955 Disneyland dining location.
- Ghost Pepper Potato Bites - $10.99, Studio Catering Co., Disney California Adventure
This savory snack is a resurrected treat from the past, but if you’re a spice fan, it's for you! The tater tots are crispy, there’s smoky bacon and even pickled jalapenos but the velvety smooth cheese sauce adds the oh so spicy element from the ghost peppers. You can follow your nose to this treat back by Monsters Inc.
- The Gingerbread Zombie Cookie - $9.00, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa Holiday Cart
One of the most coveted treats all year long is the seasonal Gingerbread Mickey Christmas cookie, so this year’s Zombie version has everyone howling in delight. The bones of Mickey are laid out in colored green or purple white chocolate atop the perfectly baked cookie. It’s super soft on a cardboard backing and a great sharable size with all the balanced spice you’d expect from culinary level gingerbread. This line can get quite lengthy and they sell out fast so be sure to buy a few extra as they travel well and if you’ve had one, you’re sure to be back for more. This cart doesn’t open until the afternoons most days, but it’s open to all visitors, you don’t have to be a hotel guest.
- The Spookaccino Cappuccino - Naples Ristorante e Bar, Downtown Disney
Who would I be if I didn’t share with you a caffeinated option? And this one is a spooky good time. Naples incredible food options don’t usually need more encouragement for diners, but this cleverly crafted cappuccino is too fun and a must have for the season! A proper cup of cappuccino is served in a most artfully scary presentation with edible paper spiders and insects atop a light ghostly foam.
BONUS Honorable mention:
Not so spooky, but incredibly yummy and my personal favorite limited time treat this season has been the chocolate-espresso bread pudding at Pacific Wharf Cafe in Disney California Adventure. There’s a lava cake-like goodness in every bite while the espresso comes off light and doesn’t overpower the flavor profile. It’s a hefty portion with toasted pecans, a creme anglaise, whipped topping and a gummy eyeball.
The Tips on scoring these ghoulish delights:
Be sure to download the Disneyland app and check for items available on mobile ordering whenever you can, because the standby lines for seasonal treats can sometimes rival those of the rides. Happy treat hunting!
